If you’re not already familiar with them, Pepper Rabbit are the LA based duo of Xander Singh and Luc Laurent. They released Beauregard in 2010 to internet acclaim. Whether or not that’s translated into commercial success is another matter, and probably something that’s beside the point. In what I think is probably an attempt to garner a little extra attention before the release of their next record Red Velvet Snowball in August, they’ve opted to give Beauregard away for a cheeky zero dollars. Trundle over to Noise Trade to cop a free download of the whole record, for free, without paying. Or you can tip them if you’re a better (read wealthier) guy than I. Meantime, here’s a Pepper Rabbit track that’s not even on Beauregard. Edgy.

*UPDATE* You can also download a few extra free tracks at CoS. This post has turned out to be rather fruitful indeed.
Here’s to good times and fiddles in old time folk. The two are synonymous by my way of thinking so it’s with a great degree of cordiality that I share with you the Deadly Gentlemen. We all know it’s not 1921 so there’s no need to be the dude who keeps breaking the illusion. Just run with it and make like we’re straight bootlegging some bathtub liquor.

You can go to the effort of download every individual song for free if you’re a penny pinching cat like I am or you can be a good guy and spend ten dollars on the full record and download it all at once. I’ll get them some coin later on. For now they can make do with yours. Truly, it’s a cracking record and you can get it over here.
Hey everyone, just checking in to make sure you’re having a good day. Hopefully this helps; It’s a free download of Ivan & Alyosha’s (remember this?) EP, available for a week. I haven’t listened to it yet so I can’t attest to it’s quality but I really enjoyed Glorify. If it turns out to be rubbish and you hate it then I’m really sorry. I’m just trying to help. If it also turns out that I’ve misused the semi-colon a few sentences back then I’m equally sorry.
Yeah, I’ve been crazy M.I.A lately and I’m sorry for that. It’s been a combination of a youth camp and a bad attitude. To make up for my extended absence here is not one but ten songs. It’s a free mixtape from Sucking Lemons, it’s free and it’s worth downloading. Most of them are pretty decent. Highlights include Yellow Ostrich, Dry the River and Dog is Dead (who you may remember from this).
As if that was sufficient recompense for my recent behaviour I’ve also decided to throw in an image of a dog being very silly indeed. Dogs shouldn’t wear clothes! Especially not clothes that make them look like Yoda. There’s no way a dog could ever master the force!
Someone recently asked me if I posted about anything but Sufjan anymore and I said, “no.” In an effort to prove that true, here is yet ANOTHER song from Sufjan, this time featuring the vocals of Vesper Stamper. Another new song. For a guy who claimed to be on the verge of calling it quits (someone find me a link to this interview please) he’s had a damn prolific year. An EP, a full length, a Christmas record and now this, a Christmas single recorded for the folks over at Sounds Familyre Records. You can pick up the entire ‘A Familyre Christmas Volume 3′ for free over here.
Give this song the time it needs to ruminate, I’m in love with it. A sort of dirty interformat love between an organism and an mp3. It’s rare enough in nature but right now you’re seeing it in full effect on your computer screen. Let’s hope it doesn’t get messy. As is often the case with Sufjan, if you don’t listen to the full four minutes of this track you won’t hear what you need to hear.
Sufjan Stevens & Vesper Stamper – Up On The Housetop

Up on the housetop, reindeer pause
Out jumps good ol’ Santa Claus
Down through the chimney with lots of toys
All for the little ones, Christmas joys
Merry Christmas.
