GOVS – I’ve Never Seen A Ghost

Your weekend fare is a single track from Joasiah Birrell, aka GOVS and it sounds something like a cross between Jordan Ireland and Copeland, the first for the vocals, the second for the delicate piano line. Gang vocals rise to bring good vibes at the end of the thing in what I think is a fairly lovely resolution to a fairly lovely first joint. I love this enough to drop a rare exclamation mark at the end of this sentence! Punctuation is a srs bzness. I’m going out of my way to lower the tone of this and all future posts in the hope that I won’t again be mistaken for a music ‘writer’ or ‘critic’. Hell, if you consider the editorial content of this here livejournal site you’d be hard pressed to identify any recurrent theme. This is, and always has been, nothing more than an outlet for my passion. So if good grammar or structurally sound sentance structure (or even the correct spelling of sentence/sentance) then you’re in the wrong place. This is the repeated and unapologetic detonation of opinion bombs underneath the foundational support beams of informed prose.

As mentioned, this is the first song to make it online from the Gold coast native but I’ve heard it from a decent source that Triple J has picked this up without hesitation. That might be an encouragement or a barrier for you but it is what it is. Listen/Download below:
