Archive for April, 2026
If you’ve recently experienced the transience of seasonal change, the caress of warm sun through cold autumnal air, the way sound muffles its way through the liminal 10am quiet once workers are at work, kids are at school and that outdoor calm has settled on April… then you’ve felt how this song sounds. It makes me feel the same way I feel when I first heard Kurt
Vile’s Blackberry song, like hearing something not intended for you. A simple set of lines scrawled in a journal made only for personal catharsis though thankfully, Holding offers this one up for the collective catharsis and it’s made many mornings more thoughtful for me through April. Maybe it will for you too.
Holding’s bio is literally just the word ‘d*ke’ so make of that what you will and fill in the blanks with your own imagined mythology. It’s the sort of song that feels all the more special through the lack of context so I’m happy, for the moment, to live in that. They’re from Sydney, I heard the song on Unearthed and that’s everything you need to know to feel it fully.
